The Classics IV had 5 Top 40 hits from 1968-73 of which Spooky was the second biggest(after Traces). It is the first of 3 Classivs IV songs on my survey. The band was fronted by Dennis Yost who many credit with being the originator of southern soft rock. Yost suffered a brain tumor in 2006 and died in 2008. The band seems to have a vey limited tour schedule today.

Edwin Starr had 4 Top 4 hits of which the anti-Vietnam anthem War was the biggest--hitting #1 for three weeks in 1970.  Others include Agent Double-O-Soul, 25 Miles and Stop the War Now. The song was originally an album track by the Temptations. It is the first of two Edwin Starr songs on my survey. Starr moved to England in 1973 and mpassed away in 2003.

Mitch Ryder(born William Levise) and the Detroit Wheels burst onto the charts in 1966 and had six top 40 hits in 1966-67. Taking some dubious advice from producer Bob Crewe he left the Detroit Wheels at the end of 1967 and never charted again. Sock It to Me Baby which peaked at #6 was banned from some radio stations for sexually suggestive lyrics. Devil with a Blue Dress On was their biggest hit and their first hit, Jenny Take a Ride was released as a single on the advice of  Keith Richard and Brian Jones. Mitch tried touring for some time but I cannot find a record of him touring today.

Gilbert  O'Sullivan had 5 Topt 40 hits including the Blockbuster #1 hit Alone Again Naturally which spend 6 weeks ay #1 in 1972. It is his only song on my survey. Gilbert just released an album in 2011 and has an active international touring schedule.

Disco-Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes was a band fronted by Sir Monti Rock III (Joseph Montanez) who prior to this was a talk show regular. The disco hit peaked at #10 in 1974. It was one of two hits by the band and the only one to zappear in my survey.

Two T205s

Two of my favorite 205s--the best 2nd baseman in history and one of the best center fielders
